At the end of 2015, the company's team was eager to launch a new project - to import a large batch of organic cacao beans from Ecuador for existing bean-to-bar producers and faced all the difficulties of pioneers.
The fact is that there were no organic cacao beans on the Russian market at all. They differ from regular ones in the principles of farming on plantations. Firstly, farmers do not use chemical fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, growth stimulants and other "achievements" of industry. Secondly, they preserve the natural ecosystem of the earth, the so-called shadow growth: cacao trees grow surrounded by their usual subequatorial neighbors. Thirdly, these are very limited batches of beans grown by farmers.
Selling 6 tons of organic cacao beans quickly was not possible, but they had to be sold, so the team decided to create their own brand. Thus, the emergence of Amazing cacao was a forced measure. We decided to create an international brand and represent Russia abroad. To implement this task, the company's team went to Latin America for a month to study the types of cacao beans, processing processes, and the structure of local farmer cooperatives. Having traveled through 5 countries, we decided to start from the places of growth and chose original types of beans to create our amazing chocolate. We planned production and equipment selection at the same time.
Amazing cacao chocolate is different from everything presented on the domestic market. Following the direct trade policy, we select and bring the ingredients ourselves. For production, we use aromatic varieties of cacao beans, which have a unique taste and aroma. Chocolate made from them does not need flavorings, because the cacao beans themselves retain a unique aroma and taste. Notes of flowers, tropical fruits or sweet spices are embedded in them by the earth itself. Such beans are self-sufficient, they initially contain natural antioxidants and other substances, thanks to which chocolate is stored without preservatives. In addition, the high content of natural cacao butter creates a velvety texture, so emulsifiers are not needed. Some bars have only two ingredients: cacao beans and cane sugar - dried sweet cane juice with a high content of minerals, vitamins and other useful substances.
In February 2017, the company's founder Olga Yarovikova presented the first three Amazing cacao chocolate bars in Amsterdam at the Chocoa professional trade fair.
The next country after Ecuador, where Amazing cacao started purchasing raw materials, became Peru. It was convenient from a logistical point of view. The elongated country with different types of landscapes is very diverse in terms of climate zones and therefore in types of cacao beans: in the south, north, and center there are completely different flavor profiles and varieties. This allowed us to form an interesting line of chocolate. On chocolate bars, like like on a bottle of good wine, the variety and region of origin are indicated. In addition, the chocolate bars are accompanied by the story of the farmers who grew the cacao beans. For us, chocolate is a product with a certain social component, since cooperating with farmers has become a contribution to improving their lives.
2018 brought Amazing cacao silver and bronze medals at the European International Chocolate Awards and a bronze medal at the World International Chocolate Awards, making us the first Russian company to receive such a high rating.
In 2019, the company won awards in three stages of the International Chocolate Awards Eastern Europe, Europe and World not only for chocolate bars in various nominations, but also for bonbons based on the chocolate.
Today, the Amazing cacao product line includes more than two dozen unique chocolate bars made from organic cacao beans from Peru, Ecuador, India, Congo, Uganda, and Nicaragua.
Amazing cacao chocolate is sold not only in Russia, it can be found in Germany, Estonia, Spain, France, China, and the USA.
