Peru

About the country

Peru is the third largest country in South America. It extends from north to south by almost six thousand kilometers and it has five thousand meters of altitudinal variation. In its western coast, washed by Pacific Ocean, prevails the tropical climate. In the east of the country the climate is subequatorial.
Because of its geography, Peru is well-known for its special climatic zones. Mountains, selva, high-mountain lakes and rainforests create peculiar growing conditions for cacao beans and coffee. Cacao beans and coffee originated from practically each one of 25 Peruvian regions have its own unique taste.
